STAR training forms/DVD now available in Chinese and Spanish

The STAR program, an evidence-based intervention to train direct care staff to effectively manage and reduce the problems experienced by persons with dementia and other memory impairments, has recently been translated:

A Chinese version was created by one of the School of Nursing visiting professors, Dr. Jing-Jy Sellin Wang, Associate professor Dept. of Nursing & Inst. of Gerontology, College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan.
A Spanish version has been created by Dr. Jerson Laks, Associate Professor, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Both the DVD and the manual are now available and will be used to help professionals in these countries train others to improve the care of persons with dementia.

*This prototype of the STAR Online Trainers’ Toolkit was developed as a DNP capstone project. Some proposed Toolkit content is limited by novice web design as well as the GoogleSites template options. The pilot study’s is to gather feedback from staff in Assisted Living responsible for conducting training on the usability and usefulness of an online train the trainer format using the Toolkit as if they were going to conduct in person trainings with their team.
